Ghirardelli
Peppermint Bark
The Opportunity
Every single year, right after Thanksgiving, two things happen: People start listening to Mariah Carey, and Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark hits the shelves. While Mariah Carey is already a holiday icon, our goal was to turn this incredibly festive chocolate into one as well.
The Idea
The holiday season is the one time of year to be extra. And if taking candy canes, crushing them up, and putting them inside layers of white and milk chocolate isn’t extra enough, we don’t know what is. That's why we celebrated the people that go all out during the holidays, in a 360 campaign, showcasing how "you can never have too much holiday spirit" (or Peppermint Bark).

Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark :30s

We kicked off the holiday season with an overly festive film that featured an overly festive holiday party.
From gingerbread cookies french-kissing, Bavarian ornaments cheers-ing, to the ugliest holiday sweaters you've ever seen — this party had it all. Oh, and did we mention Peppermint Bark?

Leading up to Christmas, we surprised NYC with a giant mysterious gift box. The only way to open it? By spreading some holiday cheer. We gathered hundreds of strangers in the middle of Manhattan to sing along, and rewarded them with Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark Squares.

We also took this idea to social by creating an over-the-top ugly holiday sweater with 25 pockets to carry all your Peppermint Bark Squares.
